| I can't really claim Big Boy as
one of my own, except I showed him and loved him (and he loved me). I
showed him when he was a young puppy and finished his championship. Big
Boy was never defeated in the classes. He finished in 8 shows, and
went Best of Breed several times. At the time, the AKC was just starting
to award extra points for beating champions, and the Atlanta Kennel Club's
100th show in 1980, Big Boy won 5 pts. by beating 13 specials!
Big Boy is pictured opposite winning Best of Breed at the 1987 National Specialty as a veteran under the late Sonnica Godden. Although I'm shown with him, his owner Bill Enders (proudly beeming at far right) handled him to this win. I handled him as far as winning the Veterans Dog class, then handed him off to Bill. Big Boy died at the age of almost 15. He has many progeny active in breeding programs all over the country. He was a fine, handsome gentleman and I'm proud to have known him. |
