Discussion

1. Do we want the CCWCC to become an AKC-accredited dog club? Yes, eventually.

2. What are some of the reasons for forming this club? To learn, demonstrate, hold workshops, get others interested in the Cardigan Welsh Corgi. We have dogs that can do everything, i.e. conformation, herding, agility, obedience, tracking, therapy, as well as enjoy being companion dogs.

3. What will we name the club? Proposed names: Upper Potomac, Potomac Valley, Chesapeake, Tri-State, Mason-Dixon, DelMarVa, and National Capitol. We chose to name our club the Chesapeake Cardigan Welsh Corgi Club (CCWCC). This readily identifies our geographic range of activity and should be easily recognizable to fanciers in other parts of the country.

4. We need to design our club logo once we receive written approval for our club name from someone in AKC Club Relations.

5. What types of membership will we have for the club? Family, single, junior, and associate.

6. How much will club annual dues be? A vote resulted in the following dues amounts: family=$25.00, single=$15.00, junior=$5.00, and associate=$10.00.

7. How will the money be spent? Normal club administrative activities, newsletter, postage, homepage, advertising, guest speakers, etc.

8. Will we be 501(c)(3) club and where will we be incorporated? We hope to apply for 501(c)(3) status and we will probably seek incorporation in Washington, D.C.

9. How many meetings will we hold each year? We will meet quarterly: March, June, September, and December. The board will also meet within one month before the next scheduled club meeting.

10. Where will the meetings be held? At dog shows, club functions, and members' homes.

11. When will we vote for our board members? At our annual meeting in June.

12. How many board positions will the club have? Five: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Corresponding Secretary, and Recording Secretary.

13. The club created a temporary board: President=Debbie Moore, Vice President=Sue N. Whaley, Treasurer=Donna Smith, Corresponding Secretary=Pam Allen, and Recording Secretary=Susan Francis-Haughton.

14. We have not yet established committees. However, Brett Skipper volunteered to produce the club newsletter, Cathy Ochs-Cline volunteered to post a club homepage, and Susan Francis-Haughton volunteered to maintain the club archives as an unofficial club historian.

15. A sample membership application as well as draft constitution and bylaws were distributed for comment.

16. The club decided that Donna Smith will collect membership applications and dues as treasurer.

17. We scheduled our next meeting for Sunday, March 1, 1998, at 1:00 pm in Upper Marlborough, MD. Sherry Caldwell will give a presentation on the history of the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, the club will vote on the constitution and bylaws, and we will discuss nominations for board members, as well as the annual meeting to be held in June.

18. The meeting adjourned at 2:55 pm.

Respectfully submitted,

Susan Francis-Haughton Temporary Recording Secretary Chesapeake Cardigan Welsh Corgi Club
